Digital Marketing House Keeping

April 17, 2020

We find ourselves in a situation with the country in shut down,  the majority of the public isolating at home and most businesses either moth balled or scaled back while we wait on the next instalment of the global corona virus pandemic.

In the same way that we are told that we are allowed to exercise once a day, this is also a great opportunity to spend some time every day 'exercising' your website.

We have put together our top five tips on keeping on top of your Digital Marketing.

1. Content

Something that no doubt you have heard so many times before.  When it comes to Digital Marketing, Content is King.  This is a great time to revisit the content on your site, make sure it represents who you are, what you do and maybe reflects any changes that you have recently had to make.  It is also a great time to get creative and add some new content on the site.  This may mean adding to existing pages on your website or creating new landing pages to help promote you and your services.  This will stand you in good stead when your business is back and running in full.

2.  Social Media Marketing

This is the perfect time to use you social media to communicate with others, share your own experiences and support those that are out there on the front line helping us all.  Keep you social media live and working.  We would suggest you use those social platforms you are comfortable with and ideally have previously been using such as Twitter, Instagram, Facebook and LinkedIn.

3.  On-site SEO

What is your on-site SEO?  Simple really we are referring to your basic on website search engine optimisation elements such as the meta titles, meta descriptions, Headings and use of relevant content.  This really is housekeeping stuff (dotting the 'i's and crossing the 't''s so to speak). It is an area that is often overlooked but can be so valuable to helping the visibility and awareness of your website with the search engines.

4.  Website images

Too many of us forget the importance of images when it comes to our websites.  Whether this is about the choice of images, the uniqueness or even basic bits such as imaging naming (Alt tag).  Finding the right image can make the difference between a new visitor to your website exiting or making contact.  Ideally you will look to use your own images.  If this is not possible them make sure that the images you choose are those that best represent what you are, what you do and how you want to be portrayed.  You can source great images from platforms such as istockphoto.

5. Email Marketing

We believe that in times where face to face communication is impossible (ZOOM type software aside) then email marketing is the perfect Digital Marketing service to help you to maintain communication with your existing and potential customers. Software such MailChimp make it really easy to design, build and mail out to your customers.

In closing this is a time to be positive, look to the future and use what time we have to put ourselves in the strongest position possible for when we come out the other side.  Support those that are putting themselves on the line for us all and remember...stay safe, stay well and stay home!
